INTRODUCTION:
Persona: Fictional representation of an ideal customer.
Inferring: Deduce or conclude something from evidence and reasoning rather than from explicit statements.
(Conclusion from evidence + Reasoning)
Trait: Characteristic or a unique feature of someone.
WARM-UP ACTIVITY:
In the warm-up activity we were shown pictures of several objects (jewellery, iPhone, head piece etc.) and were asked to make inferences about the same. We were then later shown images of three individuals and were askes to guess to whom all the previously shown objects belonged to and why.
MAIN ACTIVITY:
In the main activity we were given a task very similar to the warm-up activity. We were given images of a group of objects and were asked to make a minimum of 5 inferences for each object.

We then had to create a character sketch from the inferences we made and present in the below shown format.

FINAL REFLECTION:
It was interesting to see how much information about the owner can be found from his/her own personal belongings. For instance, among the personal belongings there was a book which belongs to the genre historical fiction which showed us that the owner might be interested in the history. This was later confirmed by our tutors as well.
During the group work, we had struggled a little when it came to figuring the goals about the character we came up with since none of the items really pointed out what profession she might be working in.
I am also not really sure how this process is useful for a designer.
LEARNING MANTRA:
Design is not just studying and improving the experience provided by a particular product. It is also about understanding the user, their background and their needs.
